FlightOut Lite runs in a web browser with nothing to install. What it needs and how it differs from the desktop game.
FlightOut Lite is the same game in a web browser, at run.flightout.app. It has the same Su-27, flight model, cockpit, instruments and HUD, the whole of Kashmir and the same sound. It is a good way to try FlightOut before you download it. More about it on the Lite page.
What you need
- A computer with a keyboard. Phones and tablets are not supported yet.
- A recent Chrome, Edge or Firefox. An older browser that lacks something the game needs gets a message saying so.
Starting it
- Open run.flightout.app. The game starts loading straight away.
- The first start downloads the game and takes a moment. After that your browser keeps it, so later visits open almost at once.
- Sound starts after your first click or key press: browsers only allow sound once you have used the page.
The map arrives in pieces: the coarse terrain comes with the game, and the finest detail loads around you as you fly.
How it differs from the desktop game
| Desktop | Browser | |
|---|---|---|
| Multiplayer | Yes | Not yet. The MULTIPLAYER button explains and links to the desktop download |
| Clouds | Volumetric clouds you can fly through | A thin cloud layer in the sky |
| Mountain shadows on the ground | Yes | No |
| Head tracking | Yes | No |
| Ambient occlusion, FSR upscaling, fullscreen modes | Yes | No |
| Quit button | Yes | No: close the tab |
| First flight | 13:30, light wind | A calm dawn, with lighter graphics settings |
Some settings are fixed in the browser and always return to these values: volumetric clouds off, ambient occlusion off, upscaler bilinear, window mode windowed, head tracking off. Everything else in Settings works as on the desktop, and your choices are saved in the browser.
